About The Boot Index

The Boot Index exists because most boot advice is written for people who review boots, not people who wear them out. The big lists rank whatever is popular. The forums know their stuff but bury it across a thousand threads. We sit in the middle. We index boots by what you actually do in them.

Who writes this

The Boot Index is edited by Jordan Wells. Jordan has spent twenty years wearing out boots on job sites and backcountry trails, and got tired of watching coworkers buy the wrong pair twice. The write-ups here track what holds up and what falls apart, in plain English, so you can buy the right pair once and get back to work.

How we pay the bills

Plainly: affiliate links. When you click a Check Price button and buy something on Amazon, we earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. It does not change which boots we recommend, and we mark every page that contains these links. The full detail is on our affiliate disclosure page.

What we will not do

  • We will not claim we field tested a boot we have not worn. Our method is documented on how we pick boots.
  • We will not list a spec we cannot trace to the manufacturer or the listing.
  • We will not rank a boot higher because it pays better.
